Back in December, we released Corona for iPhone, which made iPhone app development quicker and easier than ever before without sacrificing any aspect of app performance.Using Lua, Corona took the months-long process of creating iPhone apps and shortened it into a matter of days! Almost immediately after launching that first incarnation of Corona, we set out to support multiple platforms and provide a truly versatile solution for the mobile development community.
After being in the works for months, we now present to you the seamlessly cross-platform Corona SDK and Corona Game Edition:
- Corona SDK continues the original Corona’s tradition of straight-forward, time-efficient app development and brings it cross-platform, over to Android devices. Not only can you build across multiple platforms from the same set of code, but you can also save yourself the time and effort of rescaling your graphical assets between devices — Corona SDK automatically does that for you. Yes, we really meant it when we said it’s cross-platform!
- Corona Game Edition prerelease encompasses all the cross-platform capabilities of Corona SDK while also including many advanced features for building more demanding mobile games. OpenFeint integration and our very handy five-line physics engine are just a couple of those new features — and we’re always working on new surprises to roll out in the very near future! If you remember, Beebe Games’ mega-successful Doodle Dash! game was created in just eight days with a beta version of Game Edition, and has been downloaded over 160,000 times to date.
Corona SDK is available now for $249/year, and Corona Game Edition is available for an introductory price of $349/year. You can download Corona SDK from us here and Game Edition here; your subscription will include all new feature rollouts for the next full year.
We hope you have fun using our new creations to explore your own creativity…
…And don’t forgot to show us whatever you make!
