We’ve always told mobile game and app developers that Corona SDK is simple and fast. And right here, we’ll show you! 🙂

Below, Ansca Mobile team engineer Edgar Miranda (we told you he was talented!) walks you through, step-by-step on how to make a Breakout-style for iPhone in under 15 minutes and 150 lines of code.

Don’t believe us? Check out the tutorial below and the sample code at GitHub.

    Very nice, simple and straightforward. I have made my own breakout clone and would like to know how you are dealing with the error you should be getting, something about translating an object before the collision is over, this is the error i was getting cause by moving a static object while its dealing with a collision? I thought that was the point in putting removeSelf() in the ended phase but I still get the error.

    Great tutorial. Thanks a ton.
    One question:
    What is the difference between these two function declarations?

    local movePaddle = function(event)
    paddle.x = event.x

    local function movePaddle(event)
    paddle.x = event.x

    Do you use the first version because/when it is inside of another function declaration?

    Great tutorial!

    I have a question:

    “What is a table listener?”

    Many thanks!

      The source for this is no longer available. However, you should be able to find other Breakout like sources with a Google search.
