1. Coronium GS Server

The hits just keep on coming for those of us looking to make the next best mobile game. So many amazing tools are available to let you achieve your dream, and no shortage of resources exist to hit the ground running that much faster.

This might be the greatest gift ever provided to the Corona community. Platinum distinguished Corona developer Develephant has bestowed on us, the boon of a fully functional Game Server instance, which is a derivative of the Coronium Lua server he also created. It’s in alpha state right now, but it is free and if you know anything about Coronium, you know that the stack is very robust, and feedback is always appreciated.

Head down to the original thread to check out this cool new option for us when we’re making our games with leaderboards and achievements. Don’t forget to say thanks!

2. Using a local test database

Now, we already talked about having a really killer server implementation for making your game the best it can be. You’re set there. But what about the beginning of the development process, when you want to test database access, but you don’t have a server set up?

I recently ran across a thread with a user asking this very question. The request was for suggestions regarding creating a local server database for testing purposes, and the Corona community came through! Developer Satheesh knew of a service that let you run a local server database for testing purposes, and I figured it was too good of a tip to pass up.

Head on over to the original thread to learn more about this pretty cool option for database testing. Have your own suggestion? Throw it on the pile!

3. Apple build issues

This is going to be more of a PSA than a cool new forum post, but I wanted to get the word out about Apple build issues. Apple, with their awesome new announcements and cool new iTunes Connect interface, seem to be changing a lot of things around with regards to plugins and submission errors. It appears that the issues have been resolved, but if you’re still encountering issues, please review the below forum posts and ensure you are following through with all the new processes that Apple has created:

Thanks for the useful post. Couple of minor issues (1) All links given in the post are broken. (2) proofreading issues –> “greatest gift ever provided the Corona community” , ” It’s in alpha state right ” etc.
