Today, I’m super happy to announce that John Romero has joined as an advisor! John has had an extremely prolific career across over a hundred games, including the iconic works Wolfenstein 3D, DOOM and Quake. He has seemingly boundless energy. He’s not only working on new games, but he’s also teaching classes in mobile game development and is a tireless advocate for indie game development.

I recently sat down with John to talk about his experiences, perspective on the industry, the challenges facing game developers today, and (of course) what he loves about Corona. Here are highlights from that conversation:

Amazing news – you’ve made my year. Had the pleasure to meet Romero in my former life as a game journo – a true industry legend.

  2. That was an AWESOME interview! It’s real good to see and hear props from a legend in the industry. We both started programming around the same time and on the same hardware. A good portion of my youth was spent playing Castle Wolfenstein, Doom, and Quake! Thanks John for all the memories and the inspiration!

I thought Corona was great before but it will be even more awesome with John Romero decades of experience.

    This is really nice.
I remember, back in 1998 when I was at the university studing Computer Science, the day my network account was temporaly closed because I (and some firends) was using the lab computers to play Doom every night 🙂
